Project Engineer (Automation and Controls) Location: Bridgwater Hours: 37 hours per week, Days with flexible working hours Salary: £45,000 + benefits (including 4% bonus), 25 days holiday and pension Key Responsibilities of a Project Engineer (Automation and Controls): * Act as the site expert for industrial control systems, automation and operational technology * Support, troubleshoot and enhance automated PLC-based and data acquisition equipment * Work closely with automation partners and internal teams to maintain and improve control systems * Lead automation and operational technology projects from concept and specification through to commissioning and production support * Develop and maintain project documentation and technical records * Analyse and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, quality and safety * Ensure compliance with safety, quality and regulatory standards * Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, production and quality teams to deliver site improvement initiatives Key Skills of a Project Engineer (Automation and Controls): * HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent) * Experience working in an engineering or manufacturing environment * Strong knowledge of PLC and HMI programming, ideally Siemens or Mitsubishi systems * Experience with industrial automation and control systems * Knowledge of robotics integration (ABB, Kawasaki or similar) would be advantageous * Experience with control panel wiring and industrial control devices * Understanding of CNC machining processes and manufacturing environments * Experience using CAD software such as Autodesk or SolidWorks * Understanding of machinery safety standards including EN 13849 * Strong problem-solving, communication and project management skills * Proficient with MS Office and engineering documentation
