Purpose of Role:

The Project Engineer leads the technical development of Hendrickson suspension systems for European truck applications. This includes analysing existing OEM suspension designs in terms of function, ride behaviour, and manufacturing processes, and modifying or optimising Hendrickson systems to deliver best-fit or superior serial solutions. The role acts as a key technical interface to customers, providing expert guidance on suspension technologies and their technical and commercial impact, while confidently representing Hendrickson solutions.

Main Accountabilities:

• Lead the technical and project management of suspension projects from concept through to series production

• Complete the technical design and analysis of auxiliary axles and suspension systems based on the Hendrickson product portfolio

• Create and maintain part, assembly, and general arrangement drawings using Siemens NX CAD and ANSYS FEA software.

• Carry out feasibility studies, installation checks, design reviews, and engineering calculations, including customer site installation reviews where required.

• Act as the primary technical interface with customers on a regular basis.

• Resolve technical issues with suppliers and customers.

• Conduct design reviews, Design for Manufacture / Assembly activities, and product risk assessments

• Define part numbers and assembly structures for Bills of Materials.

• Select, evaluate, and apply proprietary components for assemblies and systems.

• Work closely with the Test function to define, update, and complete analytical and physical design validation plans, including test rig design.

• Support the warranty function through evaluation of field failures.

• Create and complete Product Change Requests and Engineering Change Notes.

• Ensure timely completion of all engineering project documentation in compliance with IATF 16949 quality requirements.

• Project delivery: Delivers suspension projects on time, to scope, cost, and quality targets.

• Technical quality: Produces robust, compliant engineering solutions with minimal rework.

• Change management: Manages engineering changes and supports warranty and field issues effectively

• Customer interface: Acts as a clear, responsive technical contact for customers and suppliers.

• Technical ownership: Takes responsibility for technical decisions and leads engineering activities within the assigned project.

• Ways of working: Follows engineering processes, maintains documentation quality, and drives improvement.

Eseential Qualifications/experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.

▪ Good knowledge of castings, machining, GD&T, fabrications, and welding

▪ Proven project management capability

▪ Ability to read engineering drawings.

▪ Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

▪ Strong analytical skills, with the ability to think creatively.

▪ Able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation, both internally & externally

▪ Strong CAD and FEA skills (preferably Siemens NX and ANSYS), with the ability to perform fundamental structural engineering calculations.
