Quality Manager
£45,000–£55,000 depending on experience | East Yorkshire | Full-time
An established specialist engineering manufacturer is recruiting a Quality Manager to take ownership of its quality function as the business grows. This is a practical role for someone who enjoys improving manufacturing and supplier performance, alongside making an ISO 9001 quality management system work effectively day to day.
The position could suit an experienced Quality Manager or a strong Quality Engineer ready to take the next step. You will have responsibility for a Quality Coordinator and work closely with Production, Engineering and Purchasing.
What the role offers
* Ownership of the quality function, with scope to influence how it develops.
* An opportunity to improve an established QMS and strengthen its use across the business.
* A varied mix of manufacturing quality, supplier improvement, auditing and problem-solving.
* Scope for responsibilities to grow as manufacturing operations expand.
The business designs and manufactures specialist engineered products for technically demanding markets. Its quality processes need to support both day-to-day production and the next stage of growth, giving the successful person a clear opportunity to make a visible contribution.
The Quality Manager will help teams prevent recurring problems, improve inspection arrangements and turn corrective actions into lasting improvements.
Key responsibilities
* Maintain and improve the ISO 9001 QMS, controlled procedures and work instructions.
* Plan internal audits, prepare for external assessments and close audit actions.
* Investigate non-conformances with Production and Engineering, addressing root causes in products and manufacturing processes.
* Strengthen incoming inspection, supplier evaluation and supplier corrective actions.
* Monitor quality KPIs, recurring defects and customer feedback.
* Support new products, process changes and quality-related training.
* Manage and develop the Quality Coordinator.
What you will bring
You will need quality experience within engineering or manufacturing, including practical responsibility for an ISO 9001 QMS, internal auditing, non-conformances, root-cause investigations and supplier quality. You should understand manufacturing inspection requirements and be comfortable working with different departments to get improvements implemented.
A formal auditor qualification, an engineering qualification or experience in a regulated manufacturing sector would be useful, but these are desirable rather than essential. Strong Quality Engineers with the relevant breadth of responsibility are welcome.
Location and package
The role will initially be based in North Yorkshire, with a planned move to Brough. Candidates should be able to accommodate both locations. The package includes £45,000–£55,000 depending on experience and 33 days’ holiday including bank holidays. Eligibility for the required security clearance will need to be established.
