The Opportunity

We’re working with a well-established, family-run subcontractor within the finishing trades, delivering high-quality projects across housing and fit-out sectors.

This is a key commercial role offering the chance to take ownership of multiple projects, working on prestigious schemes within a growing and financially stable business β€” particularly within the painting and decorating sector.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Management

*

Manage the full commercial lifecycle across housing and fit-out projects

*

Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required standards

Valuations & Payments

*

Conduct regular site visits

*

Prepare and submit accurate monthly valuations

*

Maintain strong cash flow aligned with contract terms

Variations & Cost Control

*

Identify, price, and manage variations (CAIS, SIS etc.)

*

Ensure all variations are fully documented and justified

Reporting & Financial Oversight

*

Produce monthly cost/value reports

*

Monitor project performance and highlight risks/opportunities

Final Accounts

*

Prepare and agree final accounts efficiently

Stakeholder Management

*

Liaise daily with site teams, project managers, and clients

*

Support post-tender meetings and project handovers

Resource & Labour Management

*

Track labour targets and workforce allocation

*

Monitor price work and labour bookings across projects

About You

*

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction

*

Background in housing, fit-out, or subcontracting environments

*

Strong understanding of lump sum and schedule of rates contracts

*

Experience with M3NHF, bespoke or NSR contracts (advantageous)

*

Excellent commercial awareness and cost management skills

*

Confident communicator with strong negotiation ability

*

Proactive, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven

Desirable:

*

Background in painting, drylining, plastering, or finishing trades

*

Intermediate to Senior level QS

*

Ambitious with a long-term career mindset
