Reliability Engineer

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: £60,240 per annum
Contract: 12-Month Rolling Contract
Hours: Full Time

Example Recruitment Group is delighted to be working with a leading rail engineering organisation to recruit an experienced Reliability Engineer to join their Performance & Engineering team based in Newcastle.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected organisation responsible for maintaining a modern passenger fleet, where you'll play a pivotal role in improving reliability, availability and overall fleet performance. Working closely with engineering teams, customers and suppliers, you'll use technical expertise and data-driven analysis to identify trends, resolve complex engineering issues and deliver continuous improvement across the fleet.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Reliability Engineer with a strong background in rolling stock, fleet performance and reliability engineering.

Essential Requirements

* Previous experience within a rail engineering, rolling stock or depot maintenance environment.

* Formal engineering qualification to NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent).

* Time-served Electrical, Mechanical or Systems Engineering background.

* Strong knowledge of modern EMU rolling stock systems.

* Proven experience undertaking fault trend analysis using Power BI, including building dashboards, analysing engineering data and identifying fleet reliability improvements.

* Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.

* Experience leading structured root cause investigations using 8D, 5 Whys, FMEA and Fault Tree Analysis.

* Excellent understanding of Reliability Engineering principles, including KTIN, failure trend analysis and fleet performance monitoring.

* Previous experience working within an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) environment or supporting OEM fleet maintenance/service contracts.

* Experience using fleet maintenance or engineering management systems.

* Ability to diagnose complex multi-system technical faults.

* Strong communication skills with experience working alongside customers, suppliers, OEMs and internal engineering teams.

* Experience managing technical discussions within a contractual or service environment.

* A proactive and analytical approach with excellent problem-solving skills.

* Full UK Driving Licence.

* Flexibility to travel to other UK locations when required.

Desirable

* Incorporated or Chartered Engineer (IEng/CEng).

* NVQ Level 5 (or equivalent).

* Extensive rolling stock experience.

* Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 6S and Continuous Improvement methodologies.

* Knowledge of RSSB, ORR and RAIB standards
