School Business Manager East London Full-time | 43 weeks per year (Term time + 5 weeks) Start Date: April 2026 or ASAP thereafter About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and driven School Business Manager to join a large and diverse primary setting in East London. This is a pivotal and strategic role, working closely with the senior leadership team to ensure the smooth and efficient running of operations across the school. You will lead on finance, HR, administration, premises, and health & safety, playing a key part in supporting an effective learning environment. Key Responsibilities Financial Management Lead on strategic financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting Monitor income and expenditure, ensuring best value for money Manage financial systems, reporting, and statutory returns Oversee funding streams, grants, and income generation opportunities Ensure compliance with financial regulations and audit requirements Human Resources Oversee payroll, contracts, pensions, and staff records Manage recruitment processes, safeguarding checks, and compliance Maintain the Single Central RecordLead on HR processes including absence, performance, and developmentLine manage and develop administrative staff Operations & Administration Lead the school’s administrative function and office team Ensure efficient systems for data management and communication Support admissions, attendance, and reporting processes Work closely with leadership on operational strategy Premises & Health & Safety Oversee site management, maintenance, and facilities Line manage premises staff and external contractors Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations Manage risk assessments, policies, and site safety procedures About You We are looking for a candidate who: Has strong experience in financial and operational management Demonstrates excellent organisational and leadership skills Has experience managing HR processes and teams Is proactive, solution-focused, and highly driven Can work effectively in a fast-paced, high-responsibility role Essential Skills & Attributes Strong attention to detail and organisational ability Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Confident using IT systems (e.g. Microsoft Office, MIS systems such as Arbor) Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines What’s on Offer Supportive and collaborative working environment Opportunities for professional development and training The chance to make a real impact in a well-established primary settingA varied and rewarding leadership role Safeguarding This role is subject to enhanced DBS clearance and satisfactory references.
