School Caretaker- Walsall

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and reliable School Caretaker to join a well-established school in Walsall from September. This is a hands-on role within a busy school environment, requiring a proactive individual who can take responsibility for the maintenance, safety, and security of the site. The successful candidate must have previous experience in a similar caretaker or site management role, ideally within a school setting, and be confident working independently. Key Responsibilities: Opening and closing the school site, including securing the premises Carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY tasks Ensuring the school grounds and buildings are clean, safe, and well-maintained Conducting regular health and safety checks, including fire alarms and emergency lighting Managing site security and responding to any issues or emergencies Supporting external contractors on site when required Assisting with room setups for school events and activities Ensuring compliance with safeguarding and health & safety regulations Requirements: Proven experience in a caretaker, site supervisor, or maintenance role Previous experience working within a school environment is highly desirable Good practical skills (basic plumbing, electrical, and general repairs) Strong understanding of health and safety procedures Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively Flexible and reliable approach, with willingness to work split shifts Important Information: No training will be provided - candidates must be able to start and perform the role immediately An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is preferred Candidates without a DBS must be willing to obtain and pay for their own Enhanced DBS check Aspire People Limited provides services as an Education Agency and an Education Employment Business.
