Section Engineer – Sizewell C (Marine Bulk Import Facility) Location: Sizewell, Suffolk Project: Sizewell C – Marine Bulk Import Facility (MBIF) Start Date: August 2025 Duration: Through to late 2026 Employment Type: Contract or Permanent Agency: Carmichael UK Carmichael UK is recruiting for a Section Engineer to join the Marine Bulk Import Facility (MBIF) project at Sizewell C. This major marine infrastructure package will support the delivery of bulk construction materials by sea and includes a 463m-long jetty, modular steel and precast concrete structures, and a cantilevered traveller system (Cantitravel) used for marine assembly works. This is an opportunity to play a key role in a nationally significant project while working within a high‑performing engineering and delivery team. About the Project The MBIF works include: Marine piling and ground engineering Modular steel and precast concrete assembly ECI phases, test piling, and full construction works NEC3 Option C contract environment Delivery period: August 2025 – November 2026 Role Overview As a Section Engineer, you will be responsible for the efficient running of site activities, ensuring full compliance with safety, quality and programme expectations. You will lead a team of Site Engineers, support the Construction Manager, coordinate documentation and approvals, and drive daily performance across all marine works. Key Responsibilities Lead and mentor Site Engineers, ensuring all works meet project and client requirements Prepare and manage contract documentation, permits, approvals and quality records Coordinate handover meetings with estimating, design, procurement, commercial, plant and operations teams Ensure all site documentation is organised, accurate and submitted on time Support the Construction Manager with reporting, cost data, forecasting and commercial inputs Maintain a strong site presence, attending daily briefings and monitoring progress Produce 3‑week lookahead programmes and assist with overall programme updates Manage requisitions and ensure materials and plant are procured in line with project needs Ensure delivery in line with ITPs, completing redline drawings and quality submissions Monitor daily progress, close out actions/risks and support margin and cost improvements Lead on sustainability and HSE compliance across all activities Raise and track NCRs where required Work collaboratively across operations, design, commercial, planning and quality teams Experience & Skills Required Essential: Strong experience in piling, ground engineering and marine operations Experience working with temporary works and understanding of contractual processes (EWNs, CEs) People management and mentoring experience Familiarity with lifting operations Proficient in MS Project Experience in shift patterns Desirable: CAD capability Experience producing programmes and lookaheads Qualifications Civil Engineering degree or equivalent (desirable) Working towards or holding professional status (MICE / MIStructE) Valid CSCS card SMSTS First Aid (desirable) Personal Attributes Strong communicator with the ability to influence operational teams Structured, organised and detail‑driven Commercially aware and able to contribute to cost control Able to present ideas clearly and develop innovative solutions Focused, proactive and capable of driving action Working Environment Full‑time, site‑based role at Sizewell C Occasional visits to fabrication sites or external facilities as required
