SEMH Learning Support Assistant
The pupils are Secondary aged, many learning at levels below their age range and dealing with a variety of issues, resulting in a placement at this specialist school. Staff are empathetic and caring; resilience is key. Behaviour can be challenging, but with reason. Staff at the school make a difference every single day.
About the Role:
As an SEMH LSA, you will:
* Work one-to-one and in small groups with students aged 11–16 with SEMH needs.
* Support pupils in overcoming barriers to learning, both inside and outside the classroom.
* Develop and implement personalised support strategies alongside teachers and the SENCO.
* Build trusting relationships to promote self-esteem, resilience, and engagement.
* Assist in behaviour management and the delivery of tailored interventions.
* Work collaboratively with staff, parents/carers, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students.
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or in a similar support role.
* A calm, empathetic, and consistent approach to behaviour support.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Team Teach, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
