SEMH Teaching Assistant - Alternative Provision (Secondary)
Location: Salford, Greater Manchester
Rate: £95-£110 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term
Start Date: Immediate

Do you have the patience, resilience, and communication skills to build trust with students who may struggle in mainstream settings as a SEMH Teaching Assistant?

If so, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a thriving Alternative Provision in Salford, supporting students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

This setting supports pupils who have faced challenges in mainstream education and need additional guidance to re-engage with learning. Many students have SEND, including ASC and SEMH, alongside behavioural needs.

The Role
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students in lessons and provide targeted 1:1 and small group interventions. You'll work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to help pupils stay engaged, adapt learning where needed, and build confidence both academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

Support students across a range of subjects
Provide 1:1 and small group support for SEMH/SEND needs
Adapt learning activities to suit individual learners
Encourage engagement and positive participation
Support routines, transitions, and organisation
Assist with behaviour management strategies
Build positive relationships and promote independence
Work collaboratively with staff and pastoral teamsAbout the School
