Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant - "The Perfect School-Run Shift" Work 2 hours, get paid for 3! Are you an experienced SEN professional looking for a role that finally fits around your own family? We have an immediate opening for a Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant at a highly regarded Catholic Primary School in Blackpool. This role is specifically designed to support a dedicated SEN provision during the busy lunch period, offering a unique "micro-shift" that allows you to be at the school gates for your own children's drop-off and pick-up. Working Hours: 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM (Monday to Friday) Pay: 3 hours of pay for every 2-hour shift worked (to reflect a full afternoon wage). Contract: Term-time, temporary contract. Start Date: ASAP (Pending successful DBS and references). The Role: Specialist ASD & Communication Support You will be providing vital 1:1 and small group support for pupils within a specialist provision inside a mainstream Catholic primary. These pupils require a high level of consistency and expert engagement during their midday break. Key Focus Areas: Complex Needs: Supporting pupils with Autism (ASD), including those who are non-verbal. Communication: Utilising PECS, Makaton, or AAC devices to ensure pupils can express their needs during lunch and play. Behavioural Regulation: Managing sensory overload and providing de-escalation for pupils with high-level behavioural needs. Personal Care: Assisting with feeding and hygiene with dignity and patience. Requirements: Specialist Experience Needed Because of the nature of this provision, we require a candidate who can "hit the ground running." You must have: Proven SEN Experience: Specific experience with ASD and non-verbal communication is essential. Behavioural Resilience: Ability to remain calm and regulated when faced with challenging or distressed behaviour.
