SEN Teacher

James Ray Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teacher to join a Primary SEMH school in Liverpool on a maternity cover basis. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity starting immediately, offering the chance to make a meaningful difference in a specialist setting. This is a highly rewarding role supporting primary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them access education in a structured, nurturing, and supportive environment. About the Role As an SEN Teacher, you will take responsibility for a small class of pupils with SEMH needs, delivering engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual abilities. You will play a key role in supporting pupils’ emotional regulation, behaviour, and academic development. Working closely with support staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams, you will create a safe and consistent classroom environment where pupils can thrive both socially and academically. Key Responsibilities * Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons aligned with the primary curriculum * Support pupils with SEMH needs, focusing on emotional regulation and engagement * Implement and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies * Manage challenging behaviour using positive and consistent approaches * Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, and external professionals * Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment * Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies accordingly What We’re Looking For * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent * Experience working with SEN, SEMH, or in a specialist/PRU setting * Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, resilient approach * Ability to build positive relationships with pupils who may be disengaged from education * Excellent communication and teamwork skills * A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children * Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing What’s in It for You * Full-time, long-term maternity cover role * Competitive daily rates of pay * Opportunity to make a lasting impact in a specialist SEMH setting * Supportive leadership and experienced school staff * Ongoing professional development opportunities * Term-time only working pattern Why Work with James Ray Recruitment?
