SEN Teaching Assistant Barnet, NW9 (commutable from Colindale, Burnt Oak, Hendon, Edgware, Mill Hill) £110-£120 per day Start Date: April 2026 Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary Long Term Futures is seeking a patient, resilient and highly nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in EYFS with non-verbal Autism (ASD) and complex needs in a welcoming Barnet primary school. This is a high-support role, ideal for someone with experience working with pupils who require consistent structure, sensory support and alternative communication strategies. The school is looking for someone who can provide a calm, reassuring presence while maintaining clear routines and expectations. About the Role Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo and external professionals, your responsibilities will include: * Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with non-verbal ASD and complex needs * Supporting communication using PECS, Makaton, visuals or other SALT strategies * Assisting with sensory regulation and transitions throughout the school day * Delivering structured, play-based learning tailored to the pupil's needs * Supporting emotional regulation using calm, consistent approaches * Encouraging engagement, interaction and early development skills * Working collaboratively with staff to implement personalised support plans This role requires someone confident working with high levels of need, who understands how to balance nurture with structure.
