SEN teaching assistant

About the Role:
We are looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Male Teaching Assistant to join our Special Educational Needs (SEN) school. This role involves supporting students with a range of additional needs, including autism, learning difficulties, and behavioural challenges. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and feel supported in a safe and structured environment.
This position is open to male applicants in line with occupational requirements, as the role may involve providing personal care and supporting male students.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students in the classroom and during specialist activities
Work closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored learning plans
Provide one-to-one and small group support
Assist with personal care where required
Help manage behaviour in a calm and positive manner
Encourage social interaction and emotional development
Support students during break times, trips, and extracurricular activitiesRequirements:
Experience working with children or young people with SEN (preferred)
A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essentialWhat We Offer:
