A supportive and inclusive primary SEN provision in UB5 is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to support young learners with additional needs in a nurturing and structured environment.
About the Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to primary-aged pupils with SEN
* Support children with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), speech and language difficulties, and learning delays
* Assist in delivering differentiated and engaging learning activities
* Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
* Implement and monitor EHCP targets
* Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support staff
* Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment
Requirements
* Experience working with primary-aged children with SEN
* A patient, caring, and proactive approach
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Ability to support behaviour management and emotional regulation
* Willingness to support personal care if required
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable
* Experience with ASC, speech and language needs, or SEMH
* Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or other communication strategies
* Relevant qualification in Childcare or Supporting Teaching and Learning
