About the School
We're proud to be working with a friendly and inclusive SEN secondary school in Rochdale, dedicated to supporting young people aged 11-19 with a variety of additional needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. The school provides a caring, structured, and positive learning environment where every student is encouraged to thrive and reach their full potential.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated Teaching Assistant who is passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs.

We're looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant who can:

Assist in the delivery of engaging, differentiated lessons alongside the class teacher.
Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being through encouragement and consistent support strategies.
Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and families to ensure continuity in support and progress tracking.
Encourage students to develop confidence, independence, and resilience in their learning. The ideal candidate will:

Have previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs (in school, care, or youth settings).
Bring a calm, patient, and proactive approach to supporting behaviour and learning.
Be an excellent communicator and team player, able to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
Have a sound understanding of SEN and SEMH support strategies, adapting to individual needs as required.
Hold relevant qualifications in education, support, or care (desirable but not essential). To be eligible you must:

Right to work in the UK.
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
Two professional references (preferably from child-related roles). Prospero Teaching is acting as an employment business/education recruitment agency for this vacancy. Safeguarding and child protection are at the heart of everything we do - all candidates must undergo the relevant checks before starting work.
