SEN Teaching Assistant (PRU / Behaviour Support) Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary (Long Term Opportunity) Start Date: 31/03/2026 Location: Westminster, London, UK (North West London) Salary: £97.80-£110 Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable. We are seeking a confident and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) / Alternative Provision in North West London on a full-time, long-term basis. The role involves supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, challenging behaviour, previous exclusions, or difficulties engaging in mainstream education. The successful candidate will help pupils re-engage with learning, develop positive behaviours, and build confidence within a structured and supportive environment. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is resilient, patient, and confident managing behaviour. Requirements To be eligible for this role and the stated rate of pay, applicants must have: • Previous experience working in a PRU, alternative provision, or behaviour-focused setting • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH or challenging behaviour • A calm, patient and resilient personality • Excellent communication and teamwork skills • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) Desirable Experience • Team Teach or behaviour intervention training • Experience supporting pupils with ADHD, autism, or trauma-related behaviours • Background in youth work, mentoring, or behaviour support Key Responsibilities • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with behavioural and emotional needs • Support pupils in accessing lessons and remaining engaged with learning • Use de-escalation and behaviour management strategies to support pupils effectively • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote positive engagement • Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support individual learning plans • Assist in maintaining a structured, calm and safe learning environment Our Client Can Offer You • The opportunity to make a genuine difference in pupils’ lives • A specialist learning environment supporting students who require additional guidance • A long-term opportunity with potential for extension • Valuable experience for those interested in careers in teaching, pastoral care, or behaviour support Why work via Teach Now?
