Teaching Personnel is looking for dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to join specialist schools across Sheffield. These roles are incredibly rewarding and provide the chance to help pupils overcome barriers, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.
About the Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, your role may involve supporting pupils with:
Autism (ASC) – providing structure and communication support
ADHD – helping pupils stay engaged and focused
Challenging behaviour – using patience and positive strategies to encourage progress
Learning difficulties (MLD/PMLD) – adapting learning to meet individual needs
Mental health needs (SEMH) – building trust and emotional resilience
Your day-to-day will include:
Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups
Assisting teachers in creating an inclusive learning environment
Promoting positive behaviour and independence
Encouraging social and emotional development
Attending to the specific needs of children with complex needs

Previous experience in schools, care, or youth work is desirable but not essential — we welcome applicants from all backgrounds who are eager to learn.
