A well-regarded, established architectural practice in central Essex is looking to welcome a Senior Architect to their close-knit team. This is a genuinely varied role within a studio that punches above its weight — combining thoughtful design, strong technical delivery and a warm, collaborative working culture.

The practice has built a loyal and diverse client base, with work spanning bespoke private houses, high-end extensions and barn conversions through to medium-scale residential developments and occasional commercial schemes. No two days look the same, and the successful candidate will play a meaningful role across the full breadth of the studio's output.

What You'll Be Doing

Taking ownership of projects at all stages, from initial client brief through to practical completion

Attending new client meetings and contributing to business development and practice growth

Carrying out feasibility studies, design proposals and detailed construction documentation

Leading on contract administration and site management for small to medium residential schemes

Fulfilling the Principal Designer role under both CDM and Building Regulations

Collaborating with the wider design team, external consultants and clients to keep projects on time and on budget

Attending and contributing to design team meetings

ARB-registered architect with a minimum of 5 years' post-Part 3 experience gained within UK practice

Confident working across all RIBA stages, including site-based delivery

Strong working knowledge of UK planning processes and building control requirements

Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD — both are essential

Competence as Principal Designer under CDM and Building Regulations

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills — you'll be client-facing and need to build trust quickly

A proactive, solutions-focused mindset suited to a smaller studio environment

Valid UK driving licence

Full eligibility to work in the UK

What's on Offer

Competitive salary likely to be in the range of £45,000–£55,000 (to be taken as a guide only and fully dependent on experience)

Bonus scheme

Professional subscription fees reimbursed (RIBA/ARB or equivalent)

Employer pension contribution

Annual leave that grows with your length of service

Eye care provision

Mileage allowance

Regular in-house CPD sessions with lunch provided

Social events throughout the year, including an annual Christmas party

Flexible and part-time arrangements considered for the right candidate
