Senior Buyer/Ecosystem Manager - Water Infrastructure
Job Title: Ecosystem Manager / Senior Buyer (Infra or Non-Infra) Reports to: Ecosystem Lead Direct Reports: N/A Last Updated: Aug 2025 Purpose To ensure the timely delivery of products and services to site through effective procurement, supplier management, and commercial oversight. The role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams (Design, Commercial, Delivery) to achieve value for money, foster supplier relationships, and support project outcomes in infrastructure or non-infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities Procurement (80%) Own a portfolio of work, delivering sourcing events on time and maximizing business value. Appoint suppliers following appropriate sourcing methodologies. Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers. Ensure all systems and processes are up-to-date for audit and reporting purposes. Advise business stakeholders on procurement matters. Monitor spend trends and escalate as required. Manage sustainable procurement risks. Conduct spot-buy negotiations where needed. Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures. Support the Purchase-to-Pay process. Supplier Management (15%) Develop knowledge of products and the supply chain. Conduct 360° performance feedback and quarterly reviews with suppliers. Understand economic impacts on the supply chain and mitigate risks. Liaise across alliances to manage resources and capacity. Purchase-to-Pay Support (5%) Ensure requisitions comply with procurement policy and can be converted into purchase orders. Assist with delivery and payment queries. Support delivery teams with ad hoc purchases. Health & Safety / Safer Working Promote continuous improvement in health & safety practices. Ensure induction and adherence to safety standards, audits, and mandatory reporting. Maintain compliance with working time regulations and safety equipment requirements. Report near misses and collaborate to prevent future accidents. Person Specification Qualifications & Experience Essential: Operational procurement experience Desirable: MCIPS qualification Procurement experience within water, infrastructure, or construction sectors Skills Essential: Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills Strong influencing skills Commercial acumen, including designing new commercial models and pricing Ability to integrate suppliers to deliver out-performance and innovative solutions Can-do attitude Working effectively to tight deliverables Desirable: Defining the nature of supplier relationships Package procurement and category strategy development Supplier capability development High attention to detail
