Senior Detail Designer
This role is for Electrical Detail Designers to support the T26 Naval ships. • Headcount: 4 12 month contract - highly likely of further extensions Senior Detail Designer - £41.41 per hour Umbrella Detail Designer - £36.23 per hour Umbrella Inside IR35 - Umbrella rates 37 hr contract - scope to work more. Hybrid / Remote Requirement for Senior level: • Working knowledge of FORAN CAD System - 5 years experience highly advantageous. • Previous experience working within a Naval Ships environment Reason for Role: We are looking for Senior Detail Designers with this specific experience to help bolster the experience level within the wider team. Role Description  This position holder will have proven technical capability and demonstrate exemplar behaviours as a role model within the team.  Fully conversant with all Detail Design processes and Design Management Systems (LCM or process) and can advise and guide team members through application of them.  Has the ability to work as part of a team with a degree of technical autonomy, within established procedures and practices performing a variety of the most complex tasks for example validation and verification of others outputs and designs and also support of external and internal audits/assurance.  Role model and coach within a team and on occasion will be required to deputise for / assist the Technical Lead - Detail Design where appropriate.  Will carry out audits and checks of Detail Designers outputs.  Normally has technical accountability for Detail Design Scope.  On occasion may be required to assist Team Lead in the co-ordination of team members on a variety of typically routine tasks (but will not have direct reports). Core Duties Typical duties include (but are not limited to):  Deliver design solutions in line with the design intent, ensuring consideration of through life stakeholders (e.g. operations, commissioning, support, RN).  Work within mandated design constraints such as design rules and acceptance requirements and manage non-adherence through the correct process.  Coach others on technical skills, guide and monitor trainees in their work required for vocational qualifications as delegated through Line Manager.  Role Model for early careers and aspiring designers with ability to develop talent to fulfil early potential, support early career programmes.  Able to perform self-check and peer check of all engineering outputs (Including BOM) from within the team and value stream in line with the detail design Quality Management Process/System, where delegated conduct quality tier 2 checks.  Effectively manage own time using tools and techniques to meet schedule requirements as directed by Line Manager.  On occasion may be required to assist Team Leader in the co-ordination of team members on a variety of typically routine tasks.  May be required to perform a key technical role within the Design Organisation when required such as DOQA & Change Impact Assessor.  Engage regularly with key Detail Design stakeholders in engineering and wider supporting functions.  May have delegated responsibility as Compartment or System owner within the context of Detail Design scope and may include assisting stakeholder reviews as part of the design approval process.  Where appropriate, assume Capability Champion role and share knowledge for discipline specific tasks.  Communicates clearly with team members and other stakeholders on detail design technical content.  Good verbal and written approach to describing engineering issues to stakeholders and senior management
