Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our engineering team. Role Overview The Senior Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of electrical control systems for automated machinery and industrial processes. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and extensive experience using EPLAN for electrical schematic design and documentation. This is a senior-level position requiring a minimum of 3+ years of hands-on EPLAN experience within an automation or industrial environment. Key Responsibilities * Lead the electrical design of automation and control systems from concept through to commissioning * Produce detailed electrical schematics using EPLAN Electrical * Develop panel layouts, wiring diagrams, terminal plans, and BOMs * Design control systems incorporating PLCs, HMIs, VSDs, servo systems, safety circuits, and instrumentation * Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., IEC, BS, EN, UL where applicable) * Liaise with mechanical, software, and project engineers to ensure integrated system design * Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers * Support site commissioning and fault-finding activities when required * Contribute to continuous improvement of design standards and engineering processes * Essential Requirements * Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or related discipline * Proven experience in industrial control panel design * Knowledge of PLC-based control systems * Knowledge of functional safety and safety circuit design * Ability to interpret customer specifications and produce compliant designs * Strong understanding of electrical standards and best practices * Excellent problem-solving skills * Strong communication and organisational skills * Personal Attributes * Strong leadership and mentoring ability * Detail-oriented with high design accuraccy * Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines * What we offer * Competitive salary * Pension scheme * Private healthcare (after 6 months service) * Enhanced sick pay * Discretionary 4 day a week (where applicable) * Professional development opportunities * Supportive and collaborative engineering environment
