We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Senior Estimator to join a growing construction business in the Essex area. This is a key role within the organisation, responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders, managing the estimating process from initial enquiry through to submission, and helping to secure profitable new work.

The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of the construction industry, excellent attention to detail and the ability to assess projects commercially while working to tight deadlines.

Senior Estimator Roles & Responsibilities

Lead the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for a range of construction projects.
Review tender and enquiry documentation, drawings, specifications and schedules.
Analyse project requirements and identify potential risks, opportunities and cost savings.
Prepare detailed bills of quantities, pricing schedules and tender submissions.
Obtain and assess quotations from subcontractors, suppliers and specialists.
Develop strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive and reliable pricing.
Liaise with clients, consultants, project managers and other stakeholders throughout the tender process.
Carry out take-offs and measure quantities accurately from drawings and specifications.
Review and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
Produce clear and commercially sound tender submissions within required deadlines.
Maintain accurate estimating records and pricing databases.
Support the commercial team with budgeting, forecasting and cost planning.
Attend site visits, tender meetings and pre-start meetings where required.
Identify opportunities to improve margins and maximise project value.
Assist with handover of successful projects to the commercial and delivery teams.Senior Estimator requirements

Significant experience within construction estimating.
Previous experience working at a mid or senior estimating level
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, labour and subcontractor costs.
Excellent ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of project profitability.
The ability to manage multiple tenders and competing deadlines.
Confidence working independently while also contributing effectively to a wider team.
Proficiency with estimating and construction software, Microsoft Excel and relevant industry systems.
Experience in pricing and tendering for commercial, residential, refurbishment, industrial or other construction projects would be beneficial.Senior Estimator Benefits
