We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join a well-established ground engineering team based in Edinburgh. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer with expertise in slope stability and quarry design to take a leading role on a diverse range of high-profile projects across the UK.

The Role

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering technically complex projects, with a particular focus on slope stability, rock mechanics, and quarry operations. You will be responsible for leading projects from initial investigation through to design and implementation, while mentoring junior team members and supporting business development.

Key Responsibilities

Leading geotechnical input on projects involving slope stability, landslide risk assessment, and remediation design
Undertaking quarry design, including benching, blasting considerations, and long-term stability assessments
Carrying out and supervising ground investigations and site inspections
Performing detailed geotechnical analysis and modelling (e.g. limit equilibrium, numerical modelling)
Preparing high-quality technical reports, risk assessments, and design documentation
Managing project delivery, budgets, and client relationships
Mentoring and supporting junior engineers and graduatesRequirements

Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline
Significant experience in slope stability and/or quarry design
Strong understanding of rock mechanics and soil behaviour
Experience with industry-standard software (e.g. GeoStudio, Rocscience, PLAXIS or similar)
Chartered status (or working towards) with a relevant professional body
Proven ability to manage projects and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholdersWhat's on Offer
