About the Role

As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will combine hands-on care with leadership responsibilities within children’s residential homes. You will act as a role model to Residential Support Workers, offering guidance and support to ensure high standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance are consistently met.

This role requires resilience, confidence, and the ability to lead shifts effectively. You will work closely with management teams within services, supporting operational duties and helping to create a safe, nurturing environment for children, alongside a positive and supportive workplace for staff.

While physical intervention may occasionally be required, this will always be a last resort. You will be fully trained to manage situations safely within a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead shifts, ensuring high standards of care and safety

* Supervise and support Residential Support Workers

* Ensure care plans, risk assessments, and placement plans are followed

* Promote education and engagement in learning

* Maintain accurate records (incidents, logs, reports)

* Support staff development, supervision, and training

* Escalate safeguarding or performance concerns appropriately

* Work flexibly on a rota (including sleep-ins, weekends, and bank holidays)

* Contribute to team meetings and the overall running of the service

Requirements - Mandatory:

* GCSEs (or equivalent)

* Willingness to complete Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare

* Basic IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)

* Flexibility to work shifts, including sleep-ins and weekends

* Full UK driving licence

* physical intervention training

* Experience in residential childcare or social care

* Relevant qualifications in childcare or social care
