Senior Social Worker – Child Protection
Waltham Forest Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Child Protection Team. This is a frontline safeguarding role focused on managing complex cases and ensuring children at risk receive timely and effective interventions.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality statutory social work, supporting families through Child Protection processes, and contributing to strong multi-agency safeguarding practice.
In this role, you will:
Manage a complex caseload of Child Protection and Child in Need cases
Undertake comprehensive assessments and risk analysis
Lead and participate in strategy discussions, conferences, and core group meetings
Develop and review Child Protection plans to safeguard children
Prepare high-quality reports for case conferences and court where required
Provide mentoring and support to less experienced social workers
Maintain accurate, analytical, and timely case recordings
What You’ll Need:
Social Work England Registration
Social Work Qualification
At least 3 years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care
Strong experience within Child Protection teams
Confidence managing complex and high-risk cases
Excellent assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills
