Service Engineer
MTrec’s new career opportunity We are looking for an experienced and proactive Reactive & Planned Service Engineer to join our Fire, Security & TECS team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out both emergency reactive call-outs and scheduled preventative maintenance across a range of life safety, security, and telecom systems. This role requires strong fault-finding ability, excellent customer service skills, and the capability to work independently across multiple sites while maintaining high compliance and safety standards. The Job you’ll do * Respond to emergency call-outs within agreed SLAs. * Be part of an out of hours support team. * Diagnose and rectify faults across fire, security, and telecom systems. * Provide temporary and permanent solutions to system failures. * Complete detailed service reports and documentation. * Communicate clearly with clients regarding system status and required remedial works. * Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM): * Carry out routine servicing and inspections in line with industry standards and contracts. * Test and inspect fire alarm systems (conventional and addressable). * Service intruder alarms, CCTV (IP & analogue), and access control systems. * Maintain TECS including structured cabling, intercoms, and associated infrastructure. * Identify and report system deficiencies and recommend remedial actions. * Systems Experience * Fire Alarm Systems (BS5839 compliant) * Intruder Alarms * CCTV Systems (IP-based systems preferred) * Access Control Systems * Emergency Lighting (BS5266 compliant) * TECS / Structured Cabling / Door Entry Systems About You Essential: * Proven experience in servicing fire and security systems. * Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills. * Knowledge of relevant British Standards and industry regulations. * Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively. * Full UK driving licence. * Good IT skills for digital reporting systems. * Excellent communication and customer service skills. Desirable FIA qualification or relevant fire & security certifications. ECS/CSCS card. IPAF/PASMA. Experience with major manufacturers’ systems. Knowledge of SSAIB or NSI compliance requirements.
