The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join a leading international engineering and construction contractor on a major project in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
You will be responsible for delivering accurate setting-out and surveying activities across a large-scale construction site, ensuring that all works are positioned in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and engineering requirements.
Working closely with site management, engineers, subcontractors and the wider construction team, you will play a key role in maintaining dimensional accuracy, coordinating site activities and supporting the successful delivery of complex construction works.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Setting Out Engineer looking to work on major European construction and mission-critical projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and carry out setting-out activities in accordance with approved construction drawings.
* Establish, maintain and verify site control points, benchmarks and reference levels.
* Set out foundations, structural elements, building grids, slabs and associated works.
* Complete dimensional control and verification surveys throughout construction.
* Interpret engineering drawings, coordinates, levels and technical specifications.
* Operate total stations, GPS/GNSS systems, laser levels and other surveying equipment.
* Undertake as-built surveys and maintain accurate records of completed works.
* Check dimensions, positioning, levels and alignment against design requirements.
* Coordinate with civil, structural, architectural and MEP teams.
* Work alongside site managers, engineers and subcontractors to plan setting-out requirements.
* Identify design discrepancies and differences between drawings and site conditions.
* Raise technical queries and assist with resolving engineering issues.
* Monitor construction tolerances and ensure compliance with project specifications.
* Provide accurate setting-out information to subcontractors and site teams.
Requirements
* Qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Surveying, Geomatics or a related discipline.
* Previous experience as a Setting Out Engineer or Site Engineer.
* Strong technical knowledge of surveying and dimensional control.
* Experience using total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment and digital levels.
* Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and engineering specifications.
* Experience setting out foundations, structures, building grids and levels.
* Understanding of as-built surveys and construction verification.
