The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join a leading international engineering and construction contractor on major construction and mission-critical projects in Helsinki, Finland.
You will play an important role in ensuring that site construction activities are accurately set out and delivered in line with approved drawings, specifications and project tolerances. Working alongside the project engineering and construction teams, you will support the delivery of civil, structural and building works through accurate surveying, dimensional control and ongoing site verification.
This position would suit a technically capable Setting Out Engineer with experience on complex construction projects and confidence using modern surveying equipment.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake all setting-out activities in accordance with approved drawings and project specifications.
* Establish and maintain site survey control points, benchmarks and reference levels.
* Set out foundations, building grids, structural elements, slabs and other construction works.
* Carry out detailed dimensional checks and verification surveys.
* Interpret engineering drawings, coordinates, levels and construction information.
* Operate total stations, GPS/GNSS systems, laser levels and other surveying equipment.
* Complete as-built surveys and maintain accurate records of completed works.
* Verify line, level, position and alignment throughout the construction process.
* Coordinate with civil, structural, architectural and MEP teams to support installation activities.
* Liaise with site managers, engineers and subcontractors regarding setting-out requirements.
* Identify discrepancies between site conditions and approved design information.
* wings and relevant technical documentation.
* Ensure all survey equipment is maintained and calibrated.
* Work in accordance with site health and safety requirements.
Requirements
* Qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Surveying, Geomatics or a related discipline.
* Previous experience as a Setting Out Engineer or Site Engineer.
* Strong knowledge of construction surveying and dimensional control.
* Experience using total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment and digital levels.
* Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
* Experience setting out foundations, structural elements, building grids and levels.
* Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary construction team.
* Previous data centre, industrial or large-scale commercial construction experience would be advantageous.
