Location: London, SW8
An opportunity is available for a Setting Out Engineer to join our team onsite in London, SW8. To be considered, you will come from a Civil Engineering background with proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer on major infrastructure and heavy structural projects, ensuring accuracy for steelwork, piling, and drainage.
Key Accountabilities to include but not limited to:
Experience/Knowledge:
* Setting out for highways, structures and associated civil engineering works
* Interpreting construction drawings, specifications and design data
* Carrying out surveys, checks and as‑built records
* Maintaining site control and ensuring tolerances are achieved
* Working closely with site management and subcontractors
* Supporting quality assurance processes and health & safety standards
* Resolving technical and setting out issues as they arise on site
* Strong QA/ITP (Inspection and Test Plans) management and ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
Skills:
* Previous experience working as a Setting Out Engineer on civil engineering major infrastructure and heavy structural projects, ensuring accuracy for steelwork, piling, and drainage
* Strong knowledge of setting out techniques and surveying equipment (GPS, total station)
* IT literacy with software such as AutoCAD, Excel, and Word
* Proficient in surveying instruments (Total Station, GPS) and setting out/levelling
* Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings
* A proactive and solutions‑focused approach on site
* A relevant civil engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience
Qualifications:
* Experience in setting out for civil engineering projects and strong surveying skills
* A degree or HND in Civil Engineering, proven site experience, and proficiency in surveying equipment
* CSCS
* Full driving licence
* Desirable but not essential: IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS, SSSTS, First Aider, Fire Marshall, IPAF (for MEWPs), Fit for work medical (or safety critical medical), TWS desirable
