Sheltered Housing Officer

This is a temp ongoing role in the first instance until at least January with strong potential for extension.

About the Role:

We’re looking for a compassionate and proactive Sheltered housing officer to work across two retirment complexes in Brentwood and Chlelmsford. In this rewarding role, you’ll deliver a person-centred service to older people , helping them live independently and safely within their communities.

You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the scheme, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a high-quality, responsive service. From managing health and safety to supporting social engagement, you’ll play a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

* Manage the day-to-day operations of the scheme

* Support residents with tenancy plans and scheme inductions

* Assess and manage risks including fire safety and health & safety

* Maintain accurate records and uphold scheme security

* Report and follow up on repairs, prioritising safety-related issues

* Facilitate social interaction and communal activities

* Assist in resident selection and allocation

* Maintain professional boundaries and ensure safeguarding protocols are followed

This role is being offered on a full-time basis working 35 hours per week and pays up to £25 per hour umbrella.

About the Candidate:

You’ll be someone who thrives in a people-focused environment and is passionate about supporting older individuals to live independently.

* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

* Experience supporting older or vulnerble people in a social housing setting.

* Knowledge of welfare benefits and housing management. (Desirable)

* Confidence working with statutory and voluntary agencies.

* Experience in advocacy and partnership working.
