Job Title: Site Engineer - Highways (Freelance) Location: Tuddenham, Norfolk Start Date: ASAP (Target start: 09/03/2026) Contract Duration: 12 Months Rate: £350 per day (CIS) Hours: 10 hours per day (Saturday working available) Interviews: Taking place ASAP Role Overview We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to join a highways project based in Tuddenham, Norfolk. This is a long-term freelance contract opportunity offering a 12-month programme, with immediate interviews and a targeted start date of 9th March 2026. This position is strictly freelance (CIS) and is not available on a permanent or PAYE basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering drainage and infrastructure works, ensuring all site engineering duties are carried out accurately, safely, and in line with project specifications. Key Responsibilities Setting out for highways works including drainage, kerbing, earthworks and associated infrastructure Managing and overseeing drainage installations to specification Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with drawings, ITPs and RAMS Quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) documentation As-built surveys and records Liaising with site management, subcontractors and design teams Ensuring health & safety compliance on site Supporting site supervisors and project management with daily engineering duties Essential Requirements Proven experience as a Site Engineer on highways projects Strong drainage and setting out experience (essential) CSCS Gold Card (essential) SSSTS or SMSTS (essential) Ability to work 10-hour shifts with optional Saturday work Strong understanding of highways specifications and standards Own setting out equipment preferred (advantageous) What's on Offer £350 per day (CIS) - Freelance only Long-term 12-month contract Immediate interview process Stable workload on a highways scheme If you are an experienced Freelance Site Engineer with strong drainage and highways setting out experience and are available to start ASAP, apply now to secure an interview
