Site Manager / Assistant Construction Manager

This opportunity is with a leading UK master developer delivering large-scale residential and mixed-use schemes. Known for unlocking complex sites, they specialise in delivering infrastructure-led developments and creating fully serviced plots for major housebuilders.

Their Essex scheme alone will deliver 3,700 homes alongside extensive infrastructure, making it one of the region’s most significant long-term developments.

Unlike traditional contractors, this role sits on the client side, offering exposure across the full development lifecycle and a genuine route into senior construction and development positions.

This is a site-based position where you will play a key role in overseeing infrastructure delivery from early design through to adoption.

You will work closely with internal design, commercial, and delivery teams, as well as external contractors and consultants.

Responsibilities include:

Supporting pre-construction activities, including buildability reviews and design input

Monitoring contractors on-site to ensure quality, safety, and programme compliance

Overseeing delivery of roads, drainage, utilities, earthworks, and landscaping

Acting as the primary on-site presence (“eyes and ears”) for the wider business

Coordinating with housebuilders, managing permits, and ensuring site standards are maintained

Assisting with handover, adoption, and defects processes

Supporting site-wide logistics, access, and estate management

The Site Manager / Assistant Construction Manager

To be considered, you should have:

Background in civils, groundworks, or infrastructure delivery

Experience working with main contractors or infrastructure schemes

Knowledge of 278 works, highways, drainage, and utilities

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

Experience managing subcontractors and reviewing RAMS / quality documentation

Strong communication skills and proactive approach to problem-solving

SMSTS or SSSTS and CSCS (required)

Full UK driving licence

This role would suit someone at Site Manager or Assistant Construction Manager level, looking to progress into a more senior position over time.

In Return?

£50,000 – £60,000 salary (depending on experience)

Discretionary annual bonus

25 days annual leave

10% employer pension contribution

Private healthcare (family cover)

Dental insurance

Death in service (4x salary)

Long-term career progression on a flagship development

If you are a Site Manager or Assistant Construction Manager considering your career options, please get in touch to discuss this opportunity further.
