Store/Yard Manager

Store/Yard Manager Location: East London (Bow) with regular travel into Central London Salary: £40,000 per annum Hours: 6:30am – 3:30pm Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent An established and reputable construction and building services contractor is seeking a Store / Yard Manager to oversee its operational yard and logistics function based in East London. This is a key operational role responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the yard, stores, vehicles and plant, supporting multiple live projects across London. You will play a vital part in coordinating logistics, managing stock and ensuring tools and materials are available when and where they are needed. The Role As Store / Yard Manager, you will take full ownership of day-to-day yard operations, ensuring efficiency, organisation and compliance at all times. You will work closely with project teams, drivers and suppliers to support ongoing works across a busy and fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities * Manage the day-to-day operations of the yard, stores and logistics function * Coordinate and schedule deliveries and collections across London * Supervise drivers to ensure efficient and timely service * Maintain accurate records of plant, tools and materials in and out of the yard * Oversee the maintenance, servicing and allocation of vehicles and small plant * Ensure the yard is kept clean, organised and compliant with safety standards * Manage waste processes and maintain accurate waste transfer documentation * Liaise with site teams to ensure materials and equipment are available as required * Maintain and update plant and asset registers using internal systems (Excel / Office tools) * Implement and maintain safe systems of work in line with health & safety policies * Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and logistics processes Requirements * Proven experience in a yard, stores or logistics management role, ideally within construction or building services * Good knowledge of construction materials, tools and plant equipment * Experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for tracking and reporting * Valid UK Driving Licence (mandatory) * Understanding of health & safety practices within a yard or operational environment * Mechanical or vehicle maintenance background (highly desirable) * Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and priorities in a busy environment * Willingness to undergo DBS clearance What’s on Offer * £40,000 basic salary * Opportunity to take ownership of a key operational function * 25 days holiday + bank holidays * Pension scheme * Life assurance * Cycle to work scheme * Employee assistance and wellbeing support * Ongoing training and development opportunities * Bonus This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Store / Yard Manager looking to take ownership of a critical logistics function within a busy and well-respected construction environment
