Role: Student Engagement Officer – Ongoing Recruitment

Location: Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough

Salary/Benefits: £23,557 – £26,754 per annum (pro rata, DOE and qualifications). Benefits include People’s Pension, retail and leisure discounts, and excellent professional and personal development opportunities, including access to further college courses.

Hours: 37 hours per week, 36 weeks per year (term time)
Contract Type: Permanent

About the Role

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a well-established Further Education provider to recruit Student Engagement Officers to join a dedicated Student Services team.

This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in supporting students’ personal development, wellbeing, and overall engagement across college campuses.

Key responsibilities include:

Promoting Positive Behaviour: Encourage respectful conduct and uphold college values, addressing inappropriate behaviour and supporting high standards of student engagement.
Student Support & Supervision: Monitor social areas, ensure ID compliance, and provide guidance to students, referring to specialist support services where appropriate.
Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with curriculum teams, estates, safeguarding, and student services colleagues to address behaviour concerns and enhance the student experience.
Enrichment & Development: Support and contribute to enrichment activities and events that promote personal growth, positive behaviours, and student engagement.
Compliance & Professional Practice: Maintain accurate records and uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, and health & safety standards while engaging in ongoing professional development.

About You

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people and creating a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Essential requirements:

Level 2 English and Maths
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Willingness to undertake First Aid training and a relevant professional qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 4 in Youth Work or Teaching)
Experience & Skills:

Experience working with young people aged 16–24 in an education or youth setting
Understanding of behaviour management, safeguarding, and barriers to learning
Strong interpersonal, communication, and IT skills
Ability to maintain accurate records and professional boundaries
Personal qualities:

Empathetic, approachable, and non-judgemental
Motivated to support student success and wellbeing
Collaborative, reliable, and adaptable
Additional requirements:

Flexibility to support occasional evening/weekend activities
Willingness to work across multiple sites

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
