Role Overview

As a Support Worker, you will provide high-quality care and support to children and young people living in a residential setting. You will help create a safe, caring, and supportive environment while encouraging independence, promoting wellbeing, and supporting each young person's daily needs and development.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide practical and emotional support to children and young people.

* Promote a safe, caring, and positive living environment.

* Support daily routines, including activities, education, appointments, and independent living skills.

* Build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.

* Complete accurate daily records and incident reports.

* Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and company policies at all times.

* Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team to achieve positive outcomes for young people.

Shift Pattern

* 4 days on, 8 days off

* 4 night shifts

* Day shift: 07:30 – 23:30

* Sleep-in: 23:30 – 07:30

* Sleep-in duties are required. Waking nights are generally not required unless specifically requested.

* Most bookings are urgent, same-day cover for staff sickness, so flexibility and availability are essential.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

* Registered with Social Care Wales (mandatory)

* Enhanced DBS for the Children's Workforce

* Valid passport or Right to Work documentation

* Valid UK driving licence

* Company ID (where applicable)

* Original compliance documents must be presented on arrival at the home

Skills & Experience

* Previous experience supporting children or young people is desirable.

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

* Compassionate, patient, and resilient approach.

* Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Flexible and able to respond to short-notice shift requests.

Compliance

Before starting any assignment, candidates must provide:

* Social Care Wales registration

* Enhanced DBS (Children's Workforce)

* Passport/Right to Work documents

* Driving licence

* Company ID (if applicable)
