Support Worker – Supported Living (Young Adults with Learning Disabilities) Location: Sutton & Croydon (Candidates must live within the surrounding areas) Employer: Blackstone Care Job Type: Flexible shifts Work Type: Days and Wake in Nights Days: Monday – Sunday About the Role Blackstone Care is seeking fun, energetic, and dedicated Support Workers to join our Supported Living service for young adults with learning disabilities. This role is hands-on, rewarding, and perfect for someone who thrives in a lively, caring, and empowering environment. You’ll support residents to develop independence, build positive routines, and enjoy meaningful daily experiences—while maintaining a safe, clean, and structured home environment. Key Responsibilities 1. Home Environment & Housekeeping Duties Keeping a clean, safe, and tidy environment throughout the house. Washing up, cleaning, and double-checking all used equipment and areas. Maintaining a presentable living space Conducting regular food expiration checks to ensure kitchen safety. Proper COSHH management and safe handling/storage of sharp kitchen utensils. Regular checks and cleaning of toilet/bathroom areas to maintain hygiene. General office duties such as updating processes, policies, and completing routine administrative tasks. 2. Resident Support, Engagement & Interactions Providing proactive and person-centred support as a key worker. Being fully engaged, available, and responsive — resident needs come first. Encouraging and instigating positive behaviours that stimulate engagement and wellbeing. Supporting residents in maintaining personal chores Suggesting, prompting, and encouraging residents to take part in activities outside of the home, helping build confidence and independence. Conducting resident room checks with a focus on personal hygiene and bathroom cleanliness. Supporting residents who are learning and adapting to a new living environment, offering patience, guidance, reassurance, and consistency. 3. Additional Support Worker Expectations Building meaningful, positive relationships with residents. Promoting independence and personal growth in daily living tasks. Supporting individuals to access the community, attend appointments, and participate in fun and engaging activities. Ensuring all support plans and safeguarding procedures are followed. Working collaboratively within a supportive staff team to maintain a safe and nurturing environment. What We’re Looking For A fun, energetic personality with a passion for helping young adults thrive. A caring, patient, and proactive approach to support work. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Understanding of professional boundaries and confidentiality. Experience in care is helpful but not essential—training is provided. Flexibility to work various shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends).
