Sustainability Lead
Location: Trowbridge, Wiltshire (with travel to project sites)
Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum plus additional benefits
The Opportunity
Our client, a leading organisation delivering complex industrial construction projects, is seeking an experienced Sustainability Lead to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping sustainability outcomes across major projects, including food manufacturing facilities, data centres, and associated infrastructure.
The Role
As Sustainability Lead, you will be responsible for driving environmental performance and embedding sustainable practices across the full project lifecycle—from early design through to construction and handover. You will work closely with internal teams, contractors, and clients to ensure sustainability objectives are met and exceeded.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement sustainability strategies across multiple industrial construction projects.
* Integrate sustainable design principles into engineering, procurement, and construction processes.
* Provide expert guidance on carbon reduction, energy efficiency, water management, and waste minimisation.
* Oversee environmental assessments, including lifecycle analysis and carbon footprinting.
* Ensure compliance with UK environmental regulations and recognised standards (e.g., BREEAM, ISO 14001).
* Establish and track sustainability KPIs, reporting progress to key stakeholders.
* Engage with supply chain partners to promote responsible sourcing and circular economy approaches.
* Support the achievement of net-zero targets and sustainability certifications.
* Deliver training and raise awareness of sustainability best practices within project teams.
* Keep abreast of industry developments, legislation, and emerging technologies.
About You
* Demonstrated experience in a sustainability-focused role within construction or industrial projects.
* Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and sustainability frameworks.
* Experience working with certification schemes such as BREEAM or equivalent.
* Understanding of industrial construction environments (e.g., data centres, manufacturing).
* Ability to influence stakeholders and drive sustainable decision-making.
* Excellent communication, analytical, and reporting skills.
* Degree in environmental science, engineering, sustainability, or a related discipline.
* Professional membership (e.g., IEMA, CIBSE, LEED AP) is advantageous.
Desirable Experience
* Previous involvement in food manufacturing or data centre projects.
* Familiarity with digital carbon tracking or environmental reporting tools.
* Knowledge of renewable energy and low-carbon technologies.
