The below job description outlines the position of: System Design Engineer
Typically, this person will work alongside engineering and project teams to produce high-quality electrical and mechanical design drawings for a variety of communications and engineering projects. The role involves developing design concepts, producing manufacturing documentation, and ensuring designs comply with relevant industry standards and customer requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities of the System Design Engineer:
Produce electrical and mechanical drawings to support engineering and project teams.
Develop design concepts from first principles through to detailed manufacturing drawings.
Produce 2D and 3D CAD drawings to recognised ISO standards.
Generate STEP files for customer and manufacturing requirements.
Refine conceptual mechanical designs into detailed production drawings.
Produce electrical enclosure and 19" rack layout drawings.
Create Visio drawings to support engineering and operational requirements.
Ensure designs comply with BS8888, EMC, LVD and other relevant industry standards.
Work closely with engineering and project teams to ensure designs meet customer specifications.
Maintain drawing revisions and design documentation.
Manage multiple design tasks while meeting project deadlines.
Take ownership of assigned work and proactively resolve design issues. Qualifications and Requirements for the System Design Engineer:
HND, HNC, Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Systems Engineering.
Minimum of 4 years' experience producing electrical and mechanical engineering drawings.
Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical design principles.
Experience using AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software.
Experience producing both 2D and 3D engineering drawings.
Understanding of manufacturing techniques and material properties.
Knowledge of electrical enclosure and control panel design, including 19" rack systems.
Familiarity with BS8888, EMC and Low Voltage Directive (LVD) standards.
Experience creating technical documentation and manufacturing drawings.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and meet tight deadlines.
Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, UK SC Security Clearance. Desirable Experience:
Electrical CAD packages such as SEE Electrical or ETAP.
Knowledge of BS7671 Wiring Regulations (18th Edition) and the Electricity at Work Act.
