Teacher – ASD / Complex Needs
The Role
You will take responsibility for a tutor group, providing high‑quality pastoral care and ensuring that provision outlined within each pupil’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) is fully met.
You will play a pivotal role in delivering outstanding teaching and learning while promoting wellbeing, inclusion, and personal independence.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging learning activities that enable pupils to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally
* Create and maintain a positive learning environment aligned with the school’s Positive Behaviour for Learning Manifesto
* Lead and support a class team to ensure consistently high standards of teaching and learning
* Assess, track, and report pupil progress effectively
* Prepare for and contribute to Person‑Centred Reviews
* Work collaboratively with parents, carers, colleagues, and external professionals
* Develop best‑practice approaches and specialist skills to promote inclusion, equity, and pupil agency
* Support pupils with vision impairment (experience in this area is desirable)
The Ideal Candidate
* Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (or equivalent)
* Is fully compliant with UK teaching roles
* Has previous experience working with ASD/Autism and Complex Needs
* Has experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) settings (essential)
* Experience with Vision Impairment is highly desirable but not essential
* Demonstrates strong teamwork, communication, and leadership skills
* Is passionate about delivering inclusive, pupil‑centred education
