Teaching Assistant
We are seeking experienced Teaching Assistants to support schools across Leeds on short- to medium-term contracts. These roles are ideal for professionals who can integrate quickly into classroom environments, support teaching staff effectively, and contribute to a positive learning environment for pupils. This is not an entry-level role. Previous experience working in a school setting is essential. Key Responsibilities Classroom Support * Assist the class teacher in delivering lessons and supporting pupil learning. * Provide one-to-one or small-group support to pupils who require additional help. * Support pupils with varying learning needs, including SEN where required. * Help maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment. * Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and participation in lessons. Behaviour & Pastoral Support * Assist with managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies. * Provide pastoral support to pupils where needed. * Support pupils during transitions between activities and lessons. * Help supervise pupils during break times, school activities, and off-site trips when required. Learning Support * Help prepare classroom materials, resources, and learning activities. * Support literacy, numeracy, and core curriculum learning. * Assist teachers with monitoring pupil progress and reporting observations. * Work collaboratively with teachers and SEN staff to support learning plans where appropriate. Person Specification Essential * Minimum 1–2 years’ experience working as a Teaching Assistant or similar role in a school. * Experience supporting pupils in a classroom environment. * Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in a busy school environment. * Flexible and able to adapt quickly to different school settings. Desirable * Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). * Experience in primary or secondary school environments. * Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant. * Knowledge of behaviour management strategies used in schools. Safeguarding & Compliance * Enhanced DBS (required). * Two references required, including most recent employer. * Proof of right to work in the UK required. * Strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in education. Additional Information * Roles available across Leeds. * Contracts range from a few weeks to several months. * Flexibility and availability at short notice are highly valued
