Teaching Assistant - SEN Support (Trauma-Informed)
Location: Blackpool
Position Type: Full-Time / April - July

Are you a compassionate, patient, and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting young children with additional needs? We are seeking a committed Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join our nurturing, trauma-informed SEN support group in Blackpool.

This rewarding role involves working closely with children who have a range of special educational needs, including those who have experienced trauma. You will play a key role in helping pupils feel safe, understood, and supported, enabling them to thrive both emotionally and academically.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide tailored support to Year 1 pupils within a small, supportive SEN group setting
Implement trauma-informed approaches to support emotional regulation and wellbeing
Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive learning activities
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote confidence and resilience
Support the development of communication, social, and behavioural skills
Monitor and record pupil progress, contributing to individual support plans

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Experience working with children in an educational or care setting (SEN experience preferred)
A good understanding of trauma-informed practice or a willingness to learn
Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills
The ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations
A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential
