Job Role: Terminal Engineer

Location: Liverpool Airport

Reports to: Engineering Team Leader

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (2 days 2 nights) + overtime opportunities

Salary: £41,280 (increasing to £45,408 at full competence)

The Role

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Terminal Engineer to join the Engineering team at

Liverpool Airport. This is a varied, hands-on role responsible for maintaining the airport's critical

terminal infrastructure, ensuring all systems remain safe, reliable and fully operational.

Working within a fast-paced 24/7 operational environment, you'll undertake planned preventative

maintenance, fault finding, repairs and engineering improvements across a wide range of building

services and terminal systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative, predictive and reactive maintenance.

• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to component level.

• Maintain a wide range of terminal systems including:

o Electrical installations

o Mechanical plant

o HVAC systems

o Plumbing services

o Building Management Systems (BMS)

o Building fabric

• Perform structured fault finding and root cause analysis.

• Recommend improvements to increase asset reliability and performance.

• Respond rapidly to operational breakdowns and restore services within agreed response

times.

• Support engineering projects, refurbishments and system upgrades.

• Supervise specialist contractors and ensure work is completed safely and to the required

standards.

• Complete maintenance documentation accurately using engineering systems.

• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, statutory maintenance requirements,

airport procedures and manufacturer guidance.

• Promote continuous improvement, energy efficiency and engineering best practice.

• Provide technical support across other engineering disciplines where required.

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications

• HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent Level 4 qualification)

• Recognised Level 3 Engineering qualification

• C&G 2365 Electrotechnical Craft (or equivalent electrical qualification)

Essential Experience

• Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)

• Reactive maintenance

• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills

• Experience maintaining building services systems

• Ability to read technical drawings, schematics and engineering manuals

• Experience working within safety-critical or operational environments

• Knowledge of safe systems of work including permits, risk assessments and isolation

procedures.

Desirable Experience

Experience working with any of the following would be highly advantageous:

• Conveyor systems

• Gates, barriers and access control

• Lifts, escalators and mobility equipment

• PLCs and control systems

• HVAC and refrigeration

• Plumbing and water systems

• Building fabric maintenance

• Airport, transport or other complex 24/7 operational environments

Desirable qualifications include:

• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations

• PLC/Controls qualifications

• Building Services qualification

• Plumbing qualifications (C&G 6035)

• IOSH or Health & Safety qualification
