Tool Setter Team Leader

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Tool Setter Team Leader to join a well-established and growing manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on technical professional looking to step into (or continue in) a leadership role while remaining close to the shop floor. The successful candidate will lead a small team of Tool Setters, ensuring efficient production performance, minimal downtime, and high-quality tooling standards. You will play a key role in coordinating daily activities, resolving technical issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Roles and Responsibilities: Leading and supervising a small team of Tool Setters Delegating daily workload and prioritising tasks to meet production schedules Performing and overseeing tool changes and machine set-ups Creating, modifying and maintaining tooling fixtures Troubleshooting and resolving shop floor issues efficiently Reducing downtime through proactive problem-solving Supporting process improvements and lean manufacturing initiatives Ensuring compliance with health & safety standards Training and mentoring team members to develop skills and capability Liaising with production, maintenance and engineering teams The Ideal Candidate Proven experience as a Tool Setter within a manufacturing environment Previous experience leading or supervising a small team Strong knowledge of tooling, fixtures and machine set-up Ability to diagnose and resolve shop floor production issues Excellent organisational and delegation skills Strong communication skills across all levels Apprenticeship or engineering qualification Experience within high-volume manufacturing Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies
