Transport Planner
Transport Planner Plan and improve UK transport routes across a busy network, using data and planning tools to balance cost, service, and sustainability. You'll work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, helping to keep time-critical deliveries on track while improving how the operation runs. Role details £32,000 per year, full-time permanent role on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, based in Middleton, Manchester. The role As a Transport Network Planner, you'll design and manage transport plans that make best use of vehicles, routes, and capacity. The role exists to improve service performance and cost efficiency across a high-activity transport operation. You'll use planning tools and transport data to refine routes and loads, supporting greener, more efficient movements. What you'll be doing Developing optimal transport routes, considering distance, traffic, delivery windows, and vehicle capacity.Using planning software and tools to improve routes, reduce fuel usage, and lower emissions. Planning efficient load allocation to maximise vehicle utilisation and minimise empty running and transport costs. Analysing historical transport data, demand patterns, and market trends to identify improvements and savings. Ensuring transport plans comply with all relevant regulations, permits, licences, safety, and environmental requirements. Working with internal teams and external partners to resolve transport issues, manage risks, and maintain strong relationships. What we're looking for Proven experience in transport planning, logistics, or supply chain management, ideally in a busy environment. Strong analytical skills and experience using data analysis tools and techniques. Knowledge of transport planning software, GIS, and routing optimisation tools. Familiarity with transport regulations, compliance standards, and industry best practices. Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional and external collaboration. High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills for transport-related issues. Understanding of environmental sustainability and green transport practices, with chilled consolidation and ESS/GTS experience preferred but not essential. Benefits £32,000 per year salary.
