Workshop Engineer
Role Overview
Carry out full strip-down, inspection, diagnosis, and rebuild of large industrial reduction gearboxes
Overhaul hydraulic pumps, motors, engines, and related mechanical components
Work on complex, high-value assemblies requiring precision and strong technical knowledge
Ensure all rebuild work meets required accreditation and quality standards
Support workshop setup, workflow planning, and continuous improvement
Contribute to a strong culture of safety, quality, and engineering excellence
Requirements
Proven experience stripping and rebuilding industrial gearboxes (essential)
Strong background in hydraulics including pumps, motors, valves, and related systems
Mechanical fitting/workshop engineering experience from industrial, plant, automotive, marine, or similar sectors
Ability to work methodically and accurately on complex assemblies
Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and good team communication skills
Salary and Benefits
£40,000 - £45,000 per annum (DOE)
45 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:00-17:00
Early finish on Fridays (around 16:00)
Occasional overtime available but not guaranteed
Training provided on specialist gearbox systems
