Workshop Operative / Lifting Equipment Engineer We’re looking for a Workshop Operative / Lifting Equipment Engineer to join our friendly and supportive team at M T Hayward, for a hands-on role inspecting, testing and repairing lifting equipment within a busy workshop environment. Ideal for someone with mechanical engineering, maintenance or testing experience who enjoys fault finding, safety inspections and supporting workshop operations. If you’ve also worked in the following roles, we’d also like to hear from you: Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Technician, Service Engineer, Test Engineer, Lifting Equipment Technician All previous hands-on workshop experience considered SALARY: Competitive + Benefits LOCATION: Kingsclere, Hampshire JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent WORKING HOURS: Monday – Friday 8am-5pm JOB OVERVIEW We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Workshop Operative / Lifting Equipment Engineer with previous experience in a hands-on workshop, engineering or maintenance environment. Working primarily from the workshop in Kingsclere, the Workshop Operative / Lifting Equipment Engineer will carry out examination, inspection, testing and basic repairs of lifting equipment, ensuring safety compliance and high-quality standards. Occasional site work may also be required. As a Workshop Operative / Lifting Equipment Engineer you will also support day-to-day workshop operations, complete equipment checks and produce clear reports and quotations using IT systems. This role would suit someone practical, organised and confident communicating with customers. DUTIES Your duties as the Workshop Operative / Lifting Equipment Engineer include: * Examination and Testing: Carry out thorough inspection, examination and testing of lifting equipment in line with safety standards * Workshop Operations: Support day-to-day workshop activities and maintain a safe, organised working environment * Equipment Checks: Conduct routine checks and identify faults or maintenance requirements * Repairs and Maintenance: Undertake basic repairs and assist with servicing of lifting equipment * Report Writing: Prepare detailed inspection reports and create customer quotations using IT systems * Customer Interaction: Communicate confidently with customers regarding equipment condition and required work * Site Support: Attend occasional site visits to support inspection and testing work CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL * Previous experience in a hands-on workshop, mechanical engineering or maintenance environment * Proven experience of inspection, testing or fault finding on mechanical equipment * Confident communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers * Experience with IT systems for report writing, documentation or quotation preparation * Full UK driving licence DESIRABLE * Experience in lifting equipment inspection, testing or repair * Forklift licence or previous forklift operating experience * A background in engineering, mechanical testing or industrial equipment NO AGENCIES PLEASE HOW TO APPLY To be considered for this job vacancy, please submit your CV to our Recruitment Team who will review your details.
