Yard Operative

Yard Operator Location: Birmingham  Job Type: Full-time / Permanent Salary: £12.70-£13.50 per hour  About the Role We are currently recruiting for a reliable and hardworking Yard Operator to join our growing operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting daily yard activities, ensuring vehicles, trailers, and materials are safely organised and operational to maintain efficient site operations. This role is ideal for someone with experience in logistics, transport, warehouse, or industrial environments who enjoys working outdoors in a fast-paced setting. Key Responsibilities Safely move and position vehicles, trailers, and equipment within the yard Assist with loading and unloading deliveries Maintain an organised and safe yard environment Carry out basic vehicle and equipment checks Report defects, damages, or safety hazards promptly Support drivers with trailer movements and dispatch preparation Follow all health and safety procedures and site regulations Complete required paperwork and operational records Keep yard areas clean, tidy, and hazard-free Requirements Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, or logistics environment preferred Strong awareness of health & safety practices Good communication and teamwork skills Ability to work independently and use initiative Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions Reliable with a strong work ethic Desirable (Not Essential) Forklift Truck (FLT) licence Yard shunter  Manual handling training Experience within transport or distribution operations What We Offer Competitive salary Full training provided Company pension scheme Overtime opportunities Career development and progression opportunities Supportive team environment
