A welcoming and high-achieving primary school in Islington is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Year 1 Teacher to join their team from September 2026 on a permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher to join a supportive school that is dedicated to providing an outstanding education. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils build strong foundations in Key Stage 1 while fostering a love of learning in a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.

The successful candidate will:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have experience teaching within Key Stage 1, ideally in Year 1
Demonstrate a strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and the transition from EYFS
Have secure knowledge of phonics programmes such as Little Wandle or Read Write Inc.
Deliver creative, engaging, and differentiated lessons that meet the needs of all learners
Have high expectations for behaviour, achievement, and pupil progress
Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
Be committed to contributing to the wider school community

The role will involve:

Planning and delivering engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum
Preparing pupils for the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check through high-quality phonics teaching
Monitoring pupil progress and using assessment to inform planning
Creating a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
Working collaboratively with the Key Stage 1 team and senior leaders to maintain high standards
