We are seeking a proactive Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school team in the BB1 area. This position starts immediately after the Easter holidays and will run until the end of the academic year, offering a fantastic opportunity to support young learners in their transition to Key Stage 1. The Role Working in a Year 1 classroom in Blackburn, you will be essential in helping pupils bridge the gap between EYFS and more formal learning. Your role involves supporting the Class Teacher in delivering a creative curriculum while ensuring every child feels confident and supported. Location: Blackburn, Lancashire (Postcode: BB1). Start Date: After the Easter holidays (April 2026). End Date: July 2026 (End of Summer Term). Working Hours: 8:45 am - 3:30 pm. Break: 30-minute dinner break. Key Responsibilities Phonics & Literacy: Deliver small group interventions using schemes such as Read Write Inc. or Letters and Sounds. Classroom Support: Assist with the setup of learning stations and manage classroom resources. Pupil Progress: Work 1:1 with students who require additional support in numeracy and literacy. Supervision: Monitor students during the 30-minute lunch period to ensure a safe and happy environment. Requirements Experience: Previous experience in a UK Primary School (Year 1 or EYFS experience is a plus). Qualifications: Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. Local Knowledge: Ideally based in or able to commute easily to the BB1 area of Blackburn.
